The RO5DX uses standard-size filter housings, which makes replacement filters affordable and widely available. Here's the full schedule and what to buy.
| Stage 1: PP Sediment Filter | Every 6–12 months |
| Stage 2: GAC Carbon Filter | Every 12 months |
| Stage 3: Carbon Block Filter | Every 12 months |
| Stage 4: RO Membrane | Every 2 years |
| Stage 5: Post-Carbon Filter | Every 12 months |
| Annual cost estimate | ~$50–$70 |
Unlike some branded systems that require proprietary cartridges, the RO5DX accepts standard-size filters from many manufacturers. This keeps replacement costs low and ensures you're never locked into a single brand for filters.
A TDS meter is your best friend here — the RO5DX doesn't have a built-in filter life indicator. Output TDS above 50 from normal municipal water is a signal the membrane is weakening. Pre-filters: replace on the 6–12 month schedule or when you notice taste or odor changes in the output.
