The only countertop RO that also functions as an instant water heater — 59°F iced water to 203°F near-boiling, all through the same RO-purified and UV-C sterilized system. No plumbing required.
Waterdrop WD-A2
Countertop RO · Hot + Cold + UV-C · 100 GPD · No Plumbing
Every other countertop RO — AquaTru, K19, SimPure Y9A — gives you filtered water at room temperature or cold. The WD-A2 gives you all of that plus instant hot water from 113°F to 203°F through the same purified water system. For a home office, small kitchen, or apartment where both a kettle and a water filter take up counter space, this replaces both in one unit. The trade-off: it’s larger than a standard countertop RO, the 1.25-gallon feed tank needs frequent refilling at high use, and the 1,530W heater draws meaningful power. If you only want filtered cold water, the K19 is cheaper and more compact. But if hot water matters, nothing else in the countertop RO category does what the A2 does.

The WD-A2 requires no plumbing but does require a mandatory first-use flush before the filtered water is safe to drink. The flush removes manufacturing residues, carbon fines, and air from the system. Budget 20–30 minutes for initial setup.
Every dispense follows the same four-step sequence. All settings are retained between uses — only change what needs adjusting.
Quick shortcuts: Tap the Hot Water Key directly to jump to 203°F. Tap Cold Water Key directly to jump to 59°F. Press any key during dispensing to pause.
The child lock is mandatory for all temperatures at or above 113°F and cannot be disabled. Two distinct lock modes:
| Lock Mode | When Active | How to Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Permanent Lock | Activated by long-pressing Lock Key for 5 sec; remains active after power cycle | Long-press Lock Key 5 sec; unlock key flashes 3 times, then press dispense |
| Temporary Lock | Activates automatically each time a temperature ≥113°F is selected or Hot Water Key is pressed | Press unlock icon once; then press dispense within the active window |

| Filter model | WD-A2RF (RO Membrane Filter) |
| Rated life | 12 months or 1,000 gallons — whichever comes first |
| Tracking | Filter life indicator on display panel — monitors automatically from installation |
| Replacement procedure | Remove body cover → lift old filter out → press new filter in until click → replace cover → hold Dispense Key 5 sec to reset counter |
| Extended storage | Remove filter; store in airtight bag in refrigerator (not freezer). Drain feed tank and internal pitcher. Run 3–4 flush cycles before drinking on return to service. |
At feedwater TDS above 300 mg/L, filter life may be shorter than the rated 12 months. If your tap water is high in dissolved solids, monitor the filter indicator and replace earlier if water taste or TDS output deteriorates.
| Code | Meaning | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| E1 | Heating system malfunction — overtemperature or sensor fault | Power off; allow to cool 10 minutes; restart. If persistent, contact Waterdrop support. |
| E2 | Refrigeration system malfunction | Verify unit has adequate ventilation (6 inches minimum clearance on sides and rear). Power off; allow 30 minutes; restart. Contact support if persistent. |
| E3 | Water temperature sensor fault | Power off and on. Contact Waterdrop support if code returns. |
| E4 | UV-C lamp fault | Do not attempt self-repair. Contact Waterdrop support — UV-C component requires professional service. |
| F1 | Filter life expired — replace WD-A2RF | Replace filter; hold Dispense Key 5 seconds to reset counter. Unit may restrict dispensing until filter is replaced. |
| LO | Feed water tank low | Refill the 1.25-gallon feed water tank to the MAX line. Unit will resume normal operation automatically. |
Save any temperature and volume combination as a one-touch shortcut. Long-press the Favorite Key (star icon) for 2 seconds, set your preferred temperature and volume, then save by holding the Favorite Key again or pressing Dispense. The saved combination appears on the display at startup. Ideal for a daily routine drink order.
At elevations above 500 m (1,640 ft), water boils below 203°F — which means steam can form before the preset temperature is reached, creating a scalding risk. Hold Temperature Key + Volume Key together for 5 seconds to enter adjustment mode, then use the Hot Water Key to select the appropriate maximum from 176°F, 185°F, 194°F, or 203°F. Setting is retained after power off. Denver (5,280 ft) and similar elevations should set this to 185°F or 194°F.
The cold water refrigeration system can be toggled off to reduce power consumption and eliminate compressor noise when iced water isn’t needed. Long-press Water Dispensing Key + Cold Water Key together for 5 seconds to toggle. The unit will still filter and heat water normally when refrigeration is off — cold water simply won’t be available.
The WD-A2 runs automated flush cycles without user intervention to maintain RO membrane health and water freshness in the internal pitcher. These cycles run based on time intervals regardless of use. Audible flushing sounds during these cycles are normal. Ensure the feed tank is kept filled to allow automatic flushing to complete.
